Billy Joel in Tokyo Dome, Nov. 18, 2008

A friend of mine invited me to the Billy Joel concert at the Tokyo Dome
on Tuesday, Nov. 18. This was his only performance in Japan during
this year's world tour and attracted a large number of fans in spite of
scheduling on Tuesday night. About 30,000 mostly over thirty adult
crowd gathered to swing together with this great piano-man singer.
Here is the lights near the Dome after the concert. Sorry that I cannot
post photos because photo taking was prohibited. BJ was very
energetic throughout the concert which went for about 2 and
half hours.

BBC Proms 2008 at Royal Albert Hall

BBC Proms for tonight presented the following program:
Nikolaj Znaider violin
Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester
Sir Colin Davis conductor
Beethoven Violin Concerto in D major
Sibelius Symphony 2 in D Major

I was at up on the gallery. Also, the arena just in front of the stage
is accessible in a discount 5 pounds! Special artistic experiences
can be shared by the public who spare this much for a program.

Easter music

My colleague invited me to a nice piano recital on this
Easter Sunday afternoon at Toppan Hall in Iidabashi.
Martin Helmchen is a young German pianist who is a
residence artist at the Berlin Concert House. He played
Bach, Messiaen, Schubert, and Liszt. I liked his Bach the
best. It is nice that many talented young artists travel to
Tokyo. Thanks, Joe!

Here is the program:
J. S. Bach, Partita Nr. 6 e-Moll BWV830
Messian, 20 Regards sur L'Enfant-Jesus, estraits
Schbert, Klaviersonate Nr. 20 A-Dur D959
Liszt, Rhapsodie espagnole S254

Robert Honeysucker at Sanders Theater

Robert Honeysucker, a balitone singer, was the guest for the Summer School Orchestra 2007 concert at the Sanders Theartre on Saturday August 11th. He performed five songs from Aaron Copland's "Old American Songs" (1950): "The Boatmen's Dance" (Minstrel Song, 1843), "The Dodger" (Campaign Song), Long Time Ago (Ballad), "Simple Gifts" (Shaker Song), and "I Bought Me a Cat" (Childen's Song). "American Melting Pot Set" (1940) by Henry Cowell (1897-1965) was one of the orchestra piece. I really liked the music with melodies from different eghnic groups.
